A Long Lunch With Friends

Went to Prezzo with Hannah and Sarah for lunch today.  We had a really long, fun lunch full of laughter. Crip humour and time spent with people who totally get it with no explaining FTW. Plus the staff had coped really well with the idea of three wheelie girls all out together with no carers. Unusual (the restaurant staff coping, not the lack of carers).

I had water and then some apple and blackcurrant squash before I left.

Then there I had two bottles of Sprite (I love those little glass bottles of Sprite, didn't know they did them before I went there the first time, so cool) and a glass of water.

To eat I had garlic bread with mozzarella.  And a Tre Gusti pizza which has chicken, pepperoni and bacon on it.

Here's a pic of us wheelie girlies at lunch

Hannah, me, and Sarah opposite.

I've had several things of squash since I got home and I'm just about to go find some form of sandwich or similar (maybe dairylea on toast?) for some very late tea.

Brilliant day today.  Really hope to get together with those girls again soon.

Friday, Saturday

Friday

I had Water before I left the house and Ribena whilst at the cinema.  Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 was amazing, absolutely loved it.

I really, really wanted to grab a sausage and bacon baguette on the way home but resisted the temptation and had corned beef sandwiches when I got back.

Several things of cranberry and raspberry squash and several things of diet lemonade throughout the day and evening.

Jacket potatoes with cheese for tea (2) yummy, yummy in my tummy.

And Raisins for a with my meds snack.

Saturday

Lazy day today, I've basically done nothing much at all. Computer, phone to a friend, computer, reading, sleeping, computer is the basic gist of my day. DVD and knitting in a min me thinks! Probably a good thing as next week is going to be so busy but I do wish it hadn't rained so much so I could have made it into Reading.  I have John Lewis vouchers burning a hole in my pocket!

All I've had to drink today are multiple pints of apple and blackcurrant squash.  Trying to cut down on the juice/cranberry and raspberry squash/ribena as I had a one off of stomach cramps and assorted yuckiness I think due to too much of the above.

I had southern fried chicken and cheese on toast for lunch.

And I had new potatoes and ready cooked chicken for tea.

I'm going to grab a piece of Madeira cake in a few as a taking my meds snack.

Wednesday, Thursday

I don't know why I seem to be doing these two days at a time but I do!

Wednesday.

Did a big chunk of knitting and got several jobs done including getting my glasses fixed and my hair cut.

Sausage and bacon baguette
lots of water
squash
ready cooked chicken, new potatoes, peas,
diet lemonade
more squash, more water
3 hobnobs.

Thursday

So far I've had orange juice (probably a little too much orange juice) and diet lemonade to drink
and I've had two rounds of corned beef sandwiches for lunch.

This is where it all began to go a little bit wrong
I had 4 hob nobs before I went out (the last of the packet) as I wasn't sure I'd get a chance to eat whilst out and would be gone over tea time.
Then there was a buffet so I had four or five bitesize sausage rolls and a few crisps with a couple of glasses of water to drink.
I was the first speaker and left right after I did my presentation so managed to make it to knitting after all where I had a j2o
And then when I left I picked up a cone of chips from the chippy as I was starving.  In a way that's willpower because usually I'd get a full portion of chips and a large sausage and I was very tempted to do that then but resisted.

A Birthday Barbecue

Today is my younger brother's birthday. He's 26. We had a barbecue at my parents house to celebrate. And as always in this family there was a lot of food.

I started the day with a much needed lie in. Water, then 2 rounds of corned beef sarnies & 2 pints of blackcurrant squash.

At the barbecue I had 2 burgers, 2 chicken drumsticks, 3 rolls and 4 sausages. As well as a breadstick and a few crisps and twiglets. To drink: a glass of water and 3 of diet lemonade.

Saturday, 9 July 2011

Some sort of Saturday related title.

I was up early this morning despite wanting to have a long lie in because Argos were coming with a new bed for me.  I'm just about to go back to (my old) bed with a book because I'm tired.

11:12
I've had apple and blackcurrant squash (about a pint and a half) this morning and a bowl of Rice Krispies.

Buy One, Get Two Free

Days worth of food blogging that is... not sure what happened yesterday which meant I didn't get here but Wednesday I didn't really seem to stop much and whenever I did I had other stuff I needed to go on the computer.

Wednesday

I had a sausage and bacon baguette.  Quite a lot of cranberry and raspberry squash, some water.  I ended up with spam sandwiches for tea which whilst yummy are 1) not very healthy and 2) not particularly suitable as a tea type meal.  I forgot to go and by what I wanted to have for tea and thought I didn't have time to go back into town and grab it.  The way things went my evening plans didn't come off as anticipated so I could have done.  I went to cornerstone in the evening where I had some appletise and did some writing (my mate forgot she was supposed to come meet me and I managed to leave the house without picking up my phone...) then when I got home I had some shortbread.

Thursday

I had one glass of cranberry and raspberry squash. Lots and lots of water - I think 4 pints? spaced throughout the day.  For lunch I had corned beef on crackers and three bits of shortbread.  In the evening I went to a CAB summer social - a BBQ with ferret racing. Apple juice to drink - 3 125ml wine glasses of it I think.  To eat I had a burger in a roll, a piece of chicken, two sausages in one roll and a few crisps.  Later I had I think 3 tiny flapjack bites and 3 bits of shortbread for pudding.  This was a major win for me because the person who went to the pudding table for me put a few bits I hadn't asked for in my bowl too (why do people do that?! I don't get it....) including some chocolate which looked like milk and white chocolate mixed together... and if you know how much I love kinder chocolate (which this wasn't) you'll know how tempting it was for me but I passed it on to someone else.  When I got home I had a glass of milk to take my "with or after food" meds with.  I'm not convinced that works great but it did better than when I took it with just water on Monday and felt rubbish after....

Friday (Today!)

Today I've had 3 mugs of water (don't know why I'm drinking out of a mug rather than a pint glass like usual but I am) so far and a sausage and bacon baguette - my lunch with a friend got cancelled and I couldn't resist when I was in town.

I really need to get my eating back on track again....

20:58

Have had several more things of water which I've been enjoying a lot.  I played on just dance 2 for 25 minutes so I got some exercise which I also enjoyed.

For tea I had jackets with cheese and diet lemonade to drink. Comfort food after a bit of a crying spell.

Later

more diet lemonade and 4 bits of shortbread (I was going to have 3 but that would have left one all on it's lonesome in the packet which obviously wouldn't do.)

Waiting...

...for hospital transport!. Yes, most people go to hospital in an ambulance in an emergency... I'm going in one that was booked a week in advance.  I'm seeing the "neurological rehabilitation team" AKA a physio and who knows what else.  I was referred for physio, anyway.  Getting a bit antsy now but there's still over an hour until my appt time.

09:21

I've had a round of sausage sandwiches. Made last night and stuck in the fridge. Not that great actually. And I'm working my way through a pint of cranberry and raspberry squash,  I've stuck some crisps and a big bottle of drink in my handbag. Just remembered that I meant to stick some raisins in there too.

LATER

I had a load of diet lemonade at the hospital which I then finished at sailing (I took a litre bottle as my water bottle doesn't hold enough and it was cheaper than buying a bigger bottle of water).  I also snacked on some crisps and after a long wait bought a couple of biscuits.  As soon as I bought those the transport turned up so they got shoved in my bag where they got turned into crumbs so I'll probably bin them.

When I got home I had some squash and some spam and chips.

At sailing I had a pint of orange juice and lemonade in the bar - yummy yummy.

And I had a bowl of rice krispies when I got home to take my meds with (and because I was really hungry)

Week Two Begins

So.... week two begins today.  My food check in for today is in a separate entry here but I thought I would post an entry once a week about progress in general and how things are going.

Surprisingly enough one week without coke and chocolate and I've not had any headaches.  It's quite common usually that when I give up coke and/or chocolate I get really bad migraine type headaches, often with nausea as I withdraw from the caffeine so it's huge that hasn't happened.  Shows what happens when you do something at the right time  I suspect.

On the whole I've not missed a lot of the things I've given up which is huge.  Obviously I've had two sausage and bacon baguettes so that's been a struggle but I've not missed pizza, and I've not really missed chocolate and coke.  I did have to resist the urge to go to the chippy on Saturday night, particularly once it was relatively late and due to things going wrong right when I'd planned to make dinner (which we won't discuss) I'd not eaten.  But I managed it.  Which is huge!

This week I need to get more exercise and actually take my supplement as well as my meds.

I'm beginning week two with a 2lb weight loss. Not the most amazing week one loss ever but that'll do - especially as I have my period now.

Monday, Monday

08:49

Rice Krispies with Semi Skimmed milk and a glass of orange juice to start this day! I'd rather be back in bed...

Tuesday morning update

I had some water and a glass of squash and two rounds of corned beef sandwiches for lunch.

Multiple glasses of water, some more juice and I think another 3 glasses of squash spaced through out the day/evening.

And new potatoes, sausages and spaghetti for tea.

No exercise but also, no snacks!

And I took my supplements as well as my meds.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

OK so it's not Sunday morning being almost 9pm but I did have a very lazy Sunday morning reading an entire book cover to cover sat in the garden so thought the title apt.

I've had 1 glass of cranberry and raspberry squash, 2 or 3 (I think 3 now I'm writing this) of diet lemonade, 1 of water and 1 of orange squash so far today.

As for food:
2 rounds of corned beef sandwiches for lunch
chargrill chicken, new potatoes and peas for tea.

And so far no snacks.  Must admit I am a little peckish though.

I've not done any exercise but I have been having a sort out and getting things ticked off my to do list which feels very good and is probably more important.

Saturday

Once again slept late.  Got up and went straight into town to do a couple of errands after showering etc and drinking some water.

I picked up a sausage and bacon baguette for lunch which was very nice but not as nice as I had hoped.  That's probably a good thing.  I wish I could have taken the time to eat before I left the house and then I could have resisted the desire but I needed to be somewhere before 12 so couldn't.  I had a pint of cranberry and raspberry squash with and am just about to grab a second.

This blog won't be updated again until tomorrow night most likely.  I'll come back then and fill in the rest of today.

Sunday, 20:48

Returning to fill in the rest of Saturday after taking a very long break from the computer.

I had multiple glasses of water, another glass of squash and a couple of glasses of diet lemonade.

I had "pitta pizza" (wholemeal pitta, tomato puree, mozzarella, mushrooms and chicken) for my tea and I had some raisins right before bed as a taking my nitrofurantoin and mefenamic acid snack (both need to be taken with or after food).

Oh and I went out wheeling for over 20 minutes so I got some decent exercise in too :-)

A Summer's Picnic

(and the rest of the days eating too.)

My sister and I went over to Millet's Farm Centre today.  We had a long wander around and also took a picnic with us.  I slept late and got up only half an hour before we left so again had no breakfast, just started the day with a glass of squash.

I didn't have anything in for a sandwich (somehow I'd ended up with barely enough sandwich stuff left for half a sandwich) so I took water, raisins, and cereal and planned to buy something there.  I was very tempted by some pork pie but they looked like they were 1) a bit big and 2) would be difficult to eat with just my hands.  So I got a sausage roll and a piece of shortbread to have along with my raisins and water.  I didn't eat the cereal after all.  I treated Sophie to a sausage roll and a cupcake too.

I also got some peppers, potatoes, carrots and mushrooms in the farm shop before we left.  I didn't buy any plants although I was tempted.  I figured it was better to wait until I get my garden sorted out and actually by what I need.

We went for a wander around the out of town shopping area after we went to Millets, mostly looking for a new bed for me and getting stuff for Soph's rabbit.  We popped into the big tescos there and I got a very cheap nail varnish, a sun hat and a necklace and matching earrings as well as a few small bits of food.  I seem to have once again forgotten to buy any dairylea or similar though.

I drank my entire bottle of water (I took my refillable one which I think holds 600ml), a bit of Sophie's water and then bought a 500ml bottle in Tesco which I finished once I was home.  We were out for much longer than I thought we would be and it was hot! Plus, I did all the wheeling myself apart from a little bit up hill on gravel which S and I did between us.

When I got home I discovered that I had my period which totally explained why I was struggling emotionally yesterday.  That meant I needed to start taking my mefenamic acid and as that's with or after food (as it's an NSAID) so I had to tiny bit of sandwich chicken that was left.

I had jacket potatoes with cheese for dinner (that's one of my favourite meals) and I've had two pints of squash.  I need to go grab another drink in a minute.
